The Links Between Retired Educators of Minnesota NRTA and AARP
New Directions for NRTA, AARP’s Educator Community
As part of AARP’s renewed commitment to the National Retired Teachers Association (NRTA), new directions have been developed to help raise awareness about and increase membership in this division. Key elements in the effort are a new logo, a new set of member benefits and a leadership initiative in support of education. Live & Learn, a quarterly publication focusing on education issues, was launched in November. All NRTA members receive this publication in addition to AARP’s other publications. There’s a companion web site for Live & Learn at www.aarp.org/nrta.
It doesn’t cost an AARP member anything to join NRTA. Membership in NRTA is open to anyone with an interest in education. A new membership can simply check the appropriate box on the AARP membership form to be included in the NRTA division. Current members can call 800-424-3410 to designate themselves as NRTA members.
If you are now an AARP member, you can add the NRTA designation to your membership, which entitles you to NRTA benefits at no extra cost. You will need to know your AARP membership number (found on your AARP mailing address). There are two ways to add the NRTA designation:
