Facts About REAM

REAM is a non-profit organization established in 1954 as a volunteer group with an executive director. Officers and board members are elected and/or appointed by REAM members for two-year terms. REAM’s Board of Directors meets quarterly. Its Executive Committee meets three or more times a year.

REAM conducts legislative workshops for its over 50 local retiree units and provides speakers and other assistance upon request.

REAM works with NRTA/AARP on issues of concern to all older citizens at the state and national level.

REAM, together with other public retiree groups, has successfully achieved many pension improvements for over 50 years.

REAM works closely with statewide public employee retirement systems including the Minnesota Teachers Retirement Association and the Public Employees Retirement Association. Representatives regularly attend meetings of the Investment Advisory Council, the Minnesota State Board of Investment (the state agency responsible for investing all public employee pension funds) and the Legislative Commission on Pensions and Retirement which establishes pension policies for all Minnesota public employees.
